Jon, To make sure that msvc and msvc-wx32 work, I was trying mscv-wx32 (O5.8) and found several minor things at issue"
There is something weird happening with trying to Pan and move the chart to a certain location, when using this plugin. Also when I enter certain ocpn_draw objects, the screen redraws instantly when it is unnecessary to do so. It is difficult to adequately describe this situation, but would you please try to do some pans and getting to a certain spot on the chart, it seems to repeat a certain canvas location that is not the one desired. Also while entering objects the screen redraws to a new canvas rather indiscriminately.
Yellow information is too small in one case. The current situation is shown below in the screenshot. For an earlier example see Text too small in yellow message bar. #524

The screenshots above are from msvc-wx32 (O5.8)
The screenshots below are from msvc (O5.6)
The plugin works ok in both version of OpenCPN with a few issues that could be addressed.
The msvc O5.6 version has a scale problem with yellow information text.
The msvc O5.6 toolbar manager has veryvery small icons that don't show on high DPI screens. It is very hard to select a tool!
The instant canvas redraw issue upon entering a draw_object I know it occurs on PIL objects, not on boundary or text point.
