Hi I have a version of this running on my server - I just changed the way the resize variables are set
my original image is

when i compress it top https://images.paom.com/epaomfp/zine/zineimg/14_Noun_Project_html/5b91bab4-0200-4772-a543-a186ec7b5270.jpg?width=100 it looks really lossy

when I was using past resizers like embedly i did not experience the same issue - any thoughts?

Have you tried adjusting the IMAGE_QUALITY?

EDIT: Okay, it doesn't seem to be related to that.

I'm not sure, but you may experiment with using the nohalo interpolator, and applying the sharpen filter after that?
