When I start a new file (e.g. flowchart), I often don't know how much space I will need.
Adding new items in between existing ones often means that I need to move some, wasting time realigning stuff.
If items had parent / child relationships (a child's property?), it might be possible to move children along with the moved parent element, requiring no realigning (unless elements get moved on top of others) and no readjustment of (orthographical) waypoints.
