Named routes are great, but unfortunately don't support whitespace in their declaration:

    'ITEM_HOME /items/:slug':                    controller1,
    'ITEM_DETAIL /items/:slug/details':          controller2,
    'ITEM_COUNTRY /items/:slug/country/:code':   controller3

would read a lot easier as:

    'ITEM_HOME      /items/:slug':                 controller1,
    'ITEM_DETAIL    /items/:slug/details':         controller2,
    'ITEM_COUNTRY   /items/:slug/country/:code':   controller3
