Structured JSON editor

Currently editing a record, is essentially like editing a text file but with syntax coloring. Given that JSON is a data format. It would be better if there was a structured editor / tree view. i.e. whitespace would be handled automatically. Perhaps saving the record in the most compact form but opening it in the most readable form.
