mise only uses mise-versions.jdx.dev which is where the different versions are coming from if the tool name matches. Here is the extra logic that gets applied: the real issue is upstream, hashicorp's server gives us a lot of junk: asdf-community/asdf-hashicorp#79 You may have some look with tool aliases here but I'm not sure how they would behave exactly. |

Oh! I didn't realize this was using a parallel way of resolving versions. That makes sense... In cases where versions are listed from aqua, this is where they seem all messed up in order, is that also related to Hashicorp's way of listing things? The sad part is that it creates some discrepancies in using mise with the "full name" including the backend, vs using the name of the tool itself. I guess I can work around that by listing the versions using the real tool name, but installing using the plugin name in most cases. For my second point (not being able to use a different name for a given plugin when using Hashicorp's asdf stuff for instance), would there be a way for mise to add a plugin with the mise plugin name, the "tool name", and the url, thus allowing to add the plugin with a custom name while using the "tool name" to handle things properly with the asdf backend? This seems a bit limiting to have to use "terraform" as a name for the plugin. To explain where I'm coming from, I'm trying to be able to use multiple sources to load the same tool and would need them to work in parallel. |

Hello 👋
When using
ls-remote
with a tool name, e.g.terraform
, I will get a number of versions listed bymise
:$ mise ls-remote terraform
0.6.0 0.6.1 0.6.2 0.6.3 0.6.4 0.6.5 0.6.6 0.6.7 0.6.8 0.6.9 0.6.10 0.6.11 0.6.12 0.6.13 0.6.14 0.6.15 0.6.16 0.7.0 0.7.1 0.7.2 0.7.3 0.7.4 0.7.5 0.7.6 0.7.7 0.7.8 0.7.9 0.7.11 0.7.12 0.7.13 0.8.0 0.8.1 0.8.2 0.8.3 0.8.4 0.8.5 0.8.6 0.8.7 0.8.8 0.9.0 0.9.1 0.9.2 0.9.3 0.9.4 0.9.5 0.9.6 0.9.7 0.9.8 0.9.9 0.9.10 0.9.11 0.10.0 0.10.1 0.10.2 0.10.3 0.10.4 0.10.5 0.10.6 0.10.7 0.10.8 0.11.0 0.11.1 0.11.2 0.11.3 0.11.4 0.11.5 0.11.6 0.11.7 0.11.8 0.11.9 0.11.10 0.11.11 0.11.12 0.11.13 0.11.14 0.11.15 0.12.0 0.12.1 0.12.2 0.12.3 0.12.4 0.12.5 0.12.6 0.12.7 0.12.8 0.12.9 0.12.10 0.12.11 0.12.12 0.12.13 0.12.14 0.12.15 0.12.16 0.12.17 0.12.18 0.12.19 0.12.20 0.12.21 0.12.22 0.12.23 0.12.24 0.12.25 0.12.26 0.12.27 0.12.28 0.12.29 0.12.30 0.12.31 0.13.0 0.13.1 0.13.2 0.13.3 0.13.4 0.13.5 0.13.6 0.13.7 0.14.0 0.14.1 0.14.2 0.14.3 0.14.4 0.14.5 0.14.6 0.14.7 0.14.8 0.14.9 0.14.10 0.14.11 0.15.0 0.15.1 0.15.2 0.15.3 0.15.4 0.15.5 1.0.0 1.0.1 1.0.2 1.0.3 1.0.4 1.0.5 1.0.6 1.0.7 1.0.8 1.0.9 1.0.10 1.0.11 1.1.0 1.1.1 1.1.2 1.1.3 1.1.4 1.1.5 1.1.6 1.1.7 1.1.8 1.1.9 1.2.0 1.2.1 1.2.2 1.2.3 1.2.4 1.2.5 1.2.6 1.2.7 1.2.8 1.2.9 1.3.0 1.3.1 1.3.2 1.3.3 1.3.4 1.3.5 1.3.6 1.3.7 1.3.8 1.3.9 1.3.10 1.4.0 1.4.1 1.4.2 1.4.3 1.4.4 1.4.5 1.4.6 1.4.7 1.5.0 1.5.1 1.5.2 1.5.3 1.5.4 1.5.5 1.5.6 1.5.7 1.6.0 1.6.1 1.6.2 1.6.3 1.6.4 1.6.5 1.6.6 1.7.0 1.7.1 1.7.2 1.7.3 1.7.4 1.7.5 1.8.0 1.8.1 1.8.2 1.8.3 1.8.4 1.8.5 1.9.0 1.9.1 1.9.2 1.9.3 1.9.4 1.9.5 1.9.6 1.9.7 1.9.8 1.10.0 1.10.0-alpha20240717 1.10.0-alpha20240730 1.10.0-alpha20240807 1.10.0-alpha20240814 1.10.0-alpha20240828 1.10.0-alpha20240911 1.10.0-alpha20240918 1.10.0-alpha20240926 1.10.0-alpha20241009 1.10.0-alpha20241023 1.10.0-beta1 1.10.0-rc1 1.10.0-rc2 1.10.0-rc3 1.10.1 1.10.2 1.10.3 1.11.0-alpha20241106 1.11.0-alpha20241211 1.11.0-alpha20241218
But when using a specific backend, which supposedly is the same being used when calling
terraform
directly:$ mise ls-remote aqua:hashicorp/terraform
1.9.0 1.9.1 1.9.2 1.10.0-alpha20240717 1.9.3 1.10.0-alpha20240730 1.9.4 1.10.0-alpha20240807 1.10.0-alpha20240814 1.9.5 1.10.0-alpha20240828 1.10.0-alpha20240911 1.9.6 1.10.0-alpha20240918 1.10.0-alpha20240926 1.9.7 1.10.0-alpha20241009 1.9.8 1.10.0-alpha20241023 1.10.0-beta1 1.11.0-alpha20241106 1.10.0-rc1 1.10.0-rc2 1.10.0-rc3 1.10.0 1.10.1 1.10.2 1.11.0-alpha20241211 1.10.3 1.11.0-alpha20241218
We can see that:
It is also a bit complicated to list versions of a given tool when looking at specific backends, such as the
asdf
backend forterraform
for instance, since it's a generic URL for multiple hashicorp tools: (and thus returns no version at all)So:
