It would be great if Jasper would be available via the regular installation mechanisms in common GNU/Linux distributions.

There are modern solutions for containerized desktop applications like @snapcore (https://snapcraft.io/) and @flatpak (https://flatpak.org/) that allow including all required dependencies and even provide additional user security with the container encapsulation. Both solutions are working on all modern distributions.

Native Debian packages, which are used by Ubuntu as well would also be an alternative, but I guess the modern desktop container formats will be easier to maintain and they also give more possibilities.

PPS: This would most likely also solve issues like #190 or #57 out of the box
