I used alipy to align images of the same telescope (using the demo script) and it worked perfectly fine. But when I used the demo script to transform images of different telescopes (CCDs have different pixel sizes), it fails to find the transform. As I understand the sextractor is unable to match stars from the two images. Is there is anything that can be done to match the field stars?

I never encountered that problem myself, and I'm also not the original developer of alipy, so I'm not the best person to answer your question. My guess is that the two fields of view and/or resolutions are way too different. Did you try to manually crop and resize one of the images to roughly match the other one? It is not a fix, but at least you migth get your work done. Hope it helps.
