Can't connect to/load page with protonVPN

Describe the bug
Can't connect to the website, neither by following specific links or simply typing itch.io into search bar and hitting enter, while using protonVPN. Tab chugs for a while, before showing error message PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR (in firefox). Works just fine when not connected via protonVPN. Tried their recommended fixes like different servers (in different countries too), not using NetShield, tried different connection protocols. No difference.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Connect to protonVPN
2. Open your web browser of choice
3. Type "itch.io" into search bar and hit enter
4. no profit :(

Expected behavior
Expected to see the website.

Additional context
Edit: I have successfully and without a hitch accessed itch.io many times in the past while using protonVPN, I think at the latest just some days ago. Can't recall any updates to the VPN in that time.
