Probably an issue with the user agent. When I open the app, I get "WhatsApp Web works with Google Chrome 60+. To use WhatsApp, update Chrome, or use Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge, or Opera."

I had the same problem, but after restarting my PC everything was fine
