builds.archive.org server is not connecting #613

Many Internet Archive services including builds.archive.org are temporarily offline after a cyber attack. I don't have any information about when it will be back but they're posting general updates to their Twitter/X, Bluesky and Mastodon feeds. There aren't many changes since the last release so I would recommend using that currently: https://github.com/internetarchive/heritrix3/releases/tag/3.4.0-20240909 As builds.archive.org also host a jar file (javaswf) needed to compile the Heritrix source code that's unfortunately also currently affected unless you have the files cached from a previous build (or grab it from a previous release and use |
Thank you @ato for the information. I am scanning the repository for a heretrix build for the first time. I guess I will check back some other time. Do you think I should close the issue now or wait till the build can be downloaded? |
I think we can leave this open as others will have the same question. I can close this later when builds.archive.org is up again. I've updated the Latest Releases section in the wiki to prioritize the releases over the snapshot master builds and also added a note about the builds.archive.org outage. |
