As the intel spec shows, the EU is old term. It is time to describe the documents and API using the new term.

new term
For example, https://github.com/intel/llvm/blob/sycl/sycl/doc/extensions/supported/sycl_ext_intel_device_info.md In above spec, gpu_eu_simd_width is everywhere. But for Xe and Xe2, everyone starts talking or coding using XeCore/XVE/XMX. EU is an old term, which will make the developers to confused.
