Currently, LKP is primarily designed for testing upstream kernels. For example, the perf tool needs to be built from the upstream kernel, and the kselftest test codes need to be obtained from upstream as well. This increases the coupling between test cases and upstream. When testing LTS branches or local branches, it can lead to some inconveniences.

thanks for reporting, for now, is it possible to manually replace/sed the mainline url like https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git to your preferred one as a workaround? Later, we would consider to add an option to lkp install to pick user specified repo.
