Right now utils.import_pytz is implemented in a hacky way:

appengine_admin/utils.py

Lines 20 to 22 in 062563f

    
           def import_pytz():  # XXX: import pytz in a less hacky way 
        
               from global_modules.pytz.gae import pytz 
        
               return pytz
