Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Describe the solution you'd like

  • Ideally we could create a Web Component of this:
    • Flexible and can be hosted on Github pages here, or embedded in other tools like FMTM.
    • We could get funding specifically for a project around task splitting: API microservice + small embeddable UI.
    • Can work with any web framework, including standard HTML pages.
  • We could have a stepper based approach?
    • Upload the features you wish to split into task areas.
    • Upload the features you wish to split by, such as rivers roads and railways.
      • We could add configurable download capability from raw-data-api here (OSM data extract).
    • Choose the type of splitting algorithm you want.
    • Configure parameters, split, tweak params, split again, iterative process.
    • Output the final split task areas you are happy with.

Then it would be great to:

  • Create a github pages page showcasing the splitter.
  • Install instructions to easily deploy this.
  • Embed into fmtm as part of the project creation flow.
