So if someone were to try the Darwin base (i.e. based on Open/PureDarwin code, would be aided by the prev GNU-Darwin & Darwin-Ports aka MacPorts work, and port any incomplete components & other parts from older Darwin or FreeBSD code)

Could it atleast be considered to become a "helloDarwin" branch in this repository until any hesitance could be addressed? Or only be accepted to be a fork of helloSystem?

I would really be interested in trying to rebase even in another branch to the "master" version, and even if there can't be a sub-group from here that could be directly involved in helping. Just need a direction in what needs sorting pre-hand such as CoreAudio and I can try this even though I may currently be relatively less experienced in Github out of the team on helloSystem and similar projects 😅

Good luck. I played with Darwin a decade ago and it turned out the base of interested developers was very, very small.

If Qt is (still?) working on Darwin + Xorg you might get helloDesktop going there.
But I am not sure about the future of Darwin on amd64 once Apple doesn't support Intel Macs anymore in favor of their proprietary ARM chips.
