Possibly caused by virtualization; do you get the same issues on real hardware?

Yes, the problem exists.

So the issue is:
Menu itself (rather than the main application) quits when one selects "Quit" from Menu.
(It is then automatically restarted immediately by daemon.)

Please try to give concise titles in the future, thanks.
