We begin the course with a discussion of business use cases and security concerns. We make a distinction between products, smart products, and connected products. Various types of tags are introduced to enable arbitrary "things" to play a roll in the IoT.
The central article for the course, "Enabling the Internet of Things", is discussed. The paper argues that the standardized but decentralized model provided by the World Wide Web is the correct one to use in designing an interoperable internet of things - a web of things.
