This would enable two things:

  1. Connecting a bank account as a funding source, not a withdrawal sink (payin via ACH debit #777).
  2. Verifying identity to be a team without connecting any bank account (allow for underwriting as a business #988).

This would also help edge cases where someone has a US bank account but not a US identity.

Maybe we should use Jumio for this? (#2449)

+2 via @timothyfcook:

A few of my student team members have had trouble with connecting accounts. Keep getting “invalid” errors.

I don't know exactly what's up with the system on Gratipay but it's not letting me connect an account. I tried both my account and my mom's account to withdraw money since I haven't connected my bank and it just tells me both of them are invalid. It's not big since it just builds up but I thought I'd tell you since you have access to those guys incase it's a problem for all people and not just me because it just looks kind of sketchy.
