Transifex was picked in #2647 but for translators it would be more useful to be able to use a tool that, for each source string, showed the corresponding translations in other languages, so we can get a better idea of the context of each string and how other languages dealt with it. For example, for Portuguese (Portugal), the most obvious auxiliary language would be Portuguese (Brazil) (and vice-versa), but Spanish and Galician are two other languages that are very similar to it and would be useful in this regard.

Transifex doesn't seem to support this functionality, but there are various translation tools that do, for example Translatewiki or Crowdin. There are many more alternatives, but these are the ones I have used before and can vouch for (they also support machine translation as an aid, and are free for open source projects).

Such a change would lead to much increased translator productivity, as the network effect and bidirectionality of the language similarity would mean every new translated string serves its whole neighborhood of similar languages. Please consider moving to one of these services.
