Consider a uniform and constant magnetic field B such that$$\vec{B} = |B|\hat{x}$$ and a uniform and constant electric field E such that$$\vec{E} = |E|\hat{z}$$. If a point particle of charge \emph{q} and mass \emph{m} released at rest from the origin. It's equation of motion is given by:
\begin{equation}
\emph{y}(t)=\frac{-E}{\omega\cdot B}\cdot sin(\omega\cdot t) + \frac{E}{B}\cdot t
\end{equation}
\begin{equation}
\emph{z}(t)=\frac{-E}{\omega\cdot B}\cdot cos(\omega\cdot t) + \frac{E}{\omega\cdot B}
\end{equation}
These equations of motions are obtained by solving:\\
$\vec{F}$=\emph{q}\cdot $\vec{E}$ + \emph{q}\cdot($\vec{v}$\times$\vec{B}$) \\
where $\vec{v}$ is the velocity vector.
Observations:
\begin{enumerate}
\item Since there is no force along the \emph{x} axis, the motion is confined to the \emph{yz} plane.
\item The solution to the equation of motion is a cycloid, which interestingly also happens to be:
\begin{enumerate}
\item The path traced by a point on a rolling cylinder.
\item The solution to the Brachistrone problem.
\end{enumerate}
\end{enumerate}
