Hey-ho!
Right now we are evaluating OpenTelemetry to get rid of all the observability hassle. We are trying to jam everything into the same protocols for consistency. This is why we are ditching some legacy libraries & frameworks, as well as ones that are not moving forward with cloud-native approaches.
So, the thing is, there are 3 "communities": OpenTracing, OpenMetrics, OpenTelemetry. Quite confusing, isn't it? The deal is, OpenTelemetry has consumed all the projects, things are started to get mature and everything becomes great again.
I have forgotten where I found a link to this repo, but the fact it is not archived gives me some concerns. So, what is the status, is it recommended to use this package, did the team moved the efforts to the OpenTelemetry one, should we archive this repo?

I have discovered there are 2 observability packages for gin: this one and the one in OpenTelemetry Contrib section: https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-go-contrib/tree/main/instrumentation/github.com/gin-gonic/gin/otelgin
