Prerequisites

Describe the bug
I connect the device, and do File Transfer mode on my phone and it still doesn't connect to MacOS after I upgraded to Sequoia. Android and same cable works just fine on my linux box.

This is also an issue on a Pixel 4a running Android 13. I'm guessing that Sequoia must have broken some important APIs?

I can confirm its working just fine on Mac OS Sequoia 15.1 (24B83)

tested with mi A3. If not done already see if upgrading to 15.1 helps with things. I came to know about openmtp just today so cant comment if the issue existed before in my setup.

Re: Problem linking android phone to Mac after updating to Sequoia 15.1.1
I found the problem was not USB cable or phone system settings - rather, it was the Mac. What corrected
things for me (allowing my phone to be "seen" by OpenMTP) was to do the following:

  • Remove the USB cable / phone from the Mac
  • Restart the Mac
  • Plug the USB cable / phone into the Mac
  • Launch OpenMTP on the Mac
The good news is that I only had to do this once. That is, on subsequent days I've been able to connect phone & Mac
without having to first reboot MacOS.
    Hope this is helpful.
