These are issues that are things that we need to bear in mind -- these issues won't ever be closed
Currently we have to force the base mesh of the distorted mesh to be that of the undistorted mesh so that the new checkpointing works (see setup of mountain examples). I suspect that this will be fixed somewhere within Firedrake at some point so we can remove this...
