figured out that this only occurs when there are double digits for both operands (which doesn't occur in our first week problem set which is what I was primarily developing with). I've restricted the problems back to that set b/c we'll be piloting with only those problems, so this is temporarily fixed. I'll implement a more permanent fix later by switching to a bitmap font
