We initially did not include this because of the small sample sizes, not—as the reviewer suggested—because we did not trust our sampling scheme. However, the editor and reviewer wants us to include this measure, so we will. However, we will note in the manuscript that the question of recombination should not rest purely on the results of this measure, as is often done in the literature, but should be the synthesis of all the diversity measures and knowledge of the pathogen ecology.
