The content is organized as follows (see sub Synposis):

  • VE: The numbering of the notes and their glosses follows the system established by Pettinato in MEE 4 (1982). It is important to note that a new edition of the bilingual lexical corpus is currently being prepared (see Archi, 'Publication of the Ebla Archives' [2022], 33–34). References to the bilingual sources in ARET XIV (Archi 2023) suggest that an entirely new numbering will be introduced in the upcoming edition. However, as Pettinato's system has been used for the past thirty years, a table of concordances is highly desirable and will serve as a valuable resource for future studies.
  • Lemma: The order respects that of the original acrographic list (MEE 4, 115) on which the Vocabolario is based.
  • Sections: Most sections of the bilingual lists consist of words starting with a given sign (NINDA, KA, ...). However, a few sections deviate from this principle and present lists of words grouped thematically. Currently, there is no comprehensive study available on the acrographic/thematic organization of the VE. I have followed the digital edition of MEE 4, 115, which is accessible on the DCCLT.
  • Glosses and Notes: The glosses are listed in each note along with the sources in which they appear. The sources are cited according to the nomenclature provided in MEE 4 (refer to the Sources and Manuscripts section for a list of correspondences). If a source has not been published in MEE 4, it is referenced by its publication and/or inventory number.
    • [EBK-A]: Similar to MEE 4, the asterisk ([EBK-A]) conventionally denotes the most well-preserved manuscript of the eš₂-bar-kin₅ monolingual lexical composition, namely MEE 4, 115 = MEE 15, 1 = TM.75.G.2422+, also known as EBK-A. A picture of the tablet's obverse can be found in Matthiae et alii, Ebla: alle origini della civiltà urbana (1995), p. 351, catalog number 154. The tablet has also been published in the DCCLT. The occurrence of a lemma in the EBK holds significance, as this monolingual EBK serves as the foundation upon which the bilingual lists were compiled.
