can't uninstall plugin #15

Installed 1.0.1 on new WP installation and uploaded numerous PDF files. At first search seemed to be working, but then started "missing" some files which were previously found. Attempting to debug the problem, I tried to uninstall the plugin but it won't uninstall, saying only "Deletion failed:" with no reason.

How can I manually uninstall this plugin?
