Your use case

Images are compressed with loss when uploaded through Element X. This should be communicated clearly with the user and also provide an option to disable it and instead use lossless compression.

Given, we have a 'Optimize media for upload' setting now (which is a bit vague wording, imho), which enables/disables compression. Can we close this issue?
