Sirius version mismatch error when all versions seem to match?

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help with this issue we're facing after migrating to Obeo Designer Community 11.9.

We get the following error when updating our VSM plugin and loading our model:

Confusingly, the installed version of Sirius is 7.4.2.202406251241 and the .aird file for the model also has version="15.4.1.202403191723".

Where could this version mismatch be coming from?

Hi,

In Obeo Designer Community 11.9, the version of new .odesign files is 12.0.0.2017041100. For .aird files, it's 15.4.1.202403191723. These numbers aren't linked to the Sirius version. They are linked to the MigrationParticipant mechanism we sometimes have to develop to keep .odesign and .aird files up to date. The migration mechanism is applied when the file is opened, and changes are persisted at save. It may happen that files are not marked as “dirty” (with the star decorator), in which case you can change something in the file, undo the change, then save to apply the migration.

I wonder if you haven't manually updated the version of your files ?

The version of aird file or VSM file is a technical version not directly linked to the version of Sirius. It is changed at each impacting changes of the format of these files (or for a correction done automatically by a migration participant).
These version number can be found in the release notes of Sirius, in the Migrations section of each release.
For example for 15.4.0.202401051836, you can find in release notes of Sirius Desktop 7.4.0: A migration participant has been added to migrate ELK options used in VSM. Some have been renamed and some others have been removed. You should carefully read the information logged during this migration and the [ELK release notes](https://eclipse.dev/elk/downloads/releasenotes/release-0.9.0.html) to check if any manual adjustments need to be made. The corresponding version, stored in attribute version of description:Group of the odesign file, is 15.4.0.202401051836..
And for 12.0.0.201704070000, in the previous release notes, you can find A migration is added in this version to fix the alignment of the text in notes (as explained in user visible changes). The corresponding version, stored in attribute version of viewpoint:DAnalysis of the aird file, is 12.0.0.201704070000.
As Glenn suggests, in the version you migrated from, you probably installed the "ELK feature", and you have not done the same in Obeo Designer Community 11.9.

Installing ELK 0.9.0 from the Obeo Designer 11.9 Community repository and then reinstalling the plugin does not clear the issue, could it be something else?

Yes, you have not to install only ELK, but the "Sirius ELK integration"
