Hello! In my environment (Windows 11 Home 22H2 22621.1555) I received the same error message and could not start. Specifically, the message is as follows "This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin I am Japanese and cannot speak English. I don't know how to use GitHub. Sorry if I'm writing in the wrong place...💦. I checked GitHub to see if there was any information on it, and I found someone else who had the same problem, so I got excited and commented. I tried running it from a command prompt, but nothing happened and I couldn't start it. Speaking of QT 💦 something, I have a software called QTTabBar on my PC that adds a tab function to Explorer. This is, I guess, irrelevant, lol. I also have Monosnap and Microsoft PowerToys. I tried with these two closed, but the same error message appeared. I have not tried QTTabBar because it is difficult to temporarily disable it and the only way is to uninstall it. Is it because the language of the PC is set to Japanese, or because it is a specific version of Windows 11, or is there some other app that is doing something wrong.... I wonder what it is... Is it because it's the latest version 0.4.0 that it's not working? So I uninstalled it once. Then I tried with 0.3.15, but it did not work as well. In my environment, I installed it once about a year ago and was able to start it then. I am a blogger and have written articles about it. I have just tried to install it again after a long time, and it was not able to start............The only thing that has changed from before is that I bought a new PC. Hopefully one day I will be able to start it in my environment. If there is anything I can do, I will help. |

Hi @dynobo ! I edited the message I sent last time during the process, but it doesn't seem to have been reflected... It's difficult to use GitHub, lol. What I edited is that I was using the Microsoft Store version when I got the 1st crash dialog. If the error is on GitHub, I wonder if changing to the Microsoft store version would cure it? This is because I thought it would be a good idea. The crash dialog appeared, so I uninstalled the Microsoft Store version, downloaded it from GitHub, and started it up again. ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Oh - so it has to do with the character encoding! Maybe it's because it's Japanese...👀 but still, it's great that you found the cause so quickly.
I tried to run it immediately!
In addition, I've also attached an image of a search for "normcap" using the "Everything" in-PC search software. I hope this will be of some help. I also attached the images in the "platforms" folder. ( The code you gave me was "pyside6". My actual folder was "PySide6". I don't know if this capitalization is relevant, but to be faithful, I also ran the command corrected to uppercase.(
As a side note, some Japanese characters in the command prompt are garbled in my environment. My user name is "ナポリタン寿司(Neapolitan Sushi)". Perhaps it is the character code of the command prompt? I think the cause is the character encoding of the command prompt.I would like to believe that there is no relation. |
