Using Shift to enter rebus squares is often convenient because letters are case-insensitive, and will always be entered into the grid as uppercase. However, today's Evan Birnholz puzzle features numbers in the grid, including some squares where it wants a multi-digit number. Attempting to enter these as a rebus won't work, because having to hold Shift will turn 123 into !@# etc. and there is no other shortcut key to use the rebus feature.
