Description

After updating 4.36.0 to 4.37.1 I get an error:

WSL integration with distro 'Ubuntu' unexpectedly stopped. Do you want to restart it?

running wsl distro proxy in Ubuntu distro: running proxy: exit status 1

Image

Clicking on Skip Ubuntu WSL distro doesn't help, error resurfaces after ten seconds. The same goes for Restart WSL integration. I had to disable WSL integration.

I also downgraded to 4.36.0 (issue disappeared) and then upgraded my clean unstall to 4.37.1 - issue resurfaced.

Reproduce

Install Docker Desktop 4.37.1 and enable WSL integration.

I meet the same problem and fix it .
on desktop-desktop,click setting->Resources->WSL integration ,you can see WSL distron is disabled
Try the following steps:
wsl -l -v
just see the ubuntu state is stopped and version is 1
then set the ubuntu version
wsl --set-version Ubuntu 2
and wail for minuts docker works successful!

Aha! That led me to the right solution too. I think something changed with the way the default distro is used or something. This is my setup:

Image

Mine is v1 on the "Ubuntu" distro but I normally used 20.04 with docker. If I uncheck "Enable integration with my default WSL distro", the popup stops appearing and I can continue how I used to.

I think in previous versions (haven't upgraded in a few months), having that checkbox ticked didn't cause the popup to appear even with the same distro setup.

I want to keep my "Ubuntu" on v1 for other uses so this solves my issue. The other issue is when you click "Skip Ubuntu WSL distro" on the popup, it does not in fact skip it and keeps popping up every few seconds. Seems like a bug.
