This is a nice-to-have but having interaction animations could improve clarity and experience to users to what they are doing.

Some ideas:

Scale thumbnails from 0 to 1 when image finally loads
Transition between Gallery and Photo views
Sorting animation like http://isotope.metafizzy.co/
