Inspired by http://thisisourstop.com/ or the "People Love Us On Yelp" stickers, this feature would allow users to print a sticker-sized flyer (or a sticker if printed on sticker paper) that would have a QR code and short URL that would take the user to the story detail page for a story. Users could then put these in physical places to allow passersby a way to discover stories related to the place where they're at.

Alternately, Floodlight could print more professional stickers with a write-in space for a story URLs (bonus points for coloring in a QR code to the story, I think this is possible, but maybe too complicated for users).

We'd probably need to make at least the story detail page more mobile friendly.

I think that having a flyer or sticker template might also be a cool idea. Not every story would work in a print format, but a photo voice or data story (if it was a static data viz) could be really cool, and I think not that difficutl to figure out a standard letter- or post-card-sized format.

On a related note, I've tried printing out stories just using my browser, and it works ok. It isn't perfect, but it isn't horrible either.

+1 about making the story detail page more mobile friendly.

We saw a cool example in one of the Knight MLS presentations about a town in Peru that used "Fix this!" stickers. The city government handed them out to residents, who stuck the stickers on whatever they thought needed to be fixed (bus-stops, etc.).

In addition to off-line dissemination strategies, we could also make it easy for authors to add a plugin for gathering offline feedback. I'd love to eventually incorporate user-feedback avenues like a Google Voice hotline or Ushahidi into stories. Those would also lend themselves nicely to offline distribution like stickers or flyers.
