How to install only selected components?

How do we install only selected components. For eg. I want to disable DocumentStore and Rest API and need only the summarizer component. Is there a way to install individual components using pip? It also seems to be running/listening on port 8000, how do I change this port? What starts on this port?

Below is the command I am using now

Hi @mattkallo, to customise an Haystack installation you can use squared brackets listing the single components you want. You can find the list of the components in the pyproject.toml file here.

Summarizers are part of the core, so pip install farm-haystack would work in your case, but if you want to add (let's say) preprocessing capabilities and the Opensearch document store you'd do pip install farm-haystack[preprocessing,opensearch].

The rest_api listens to port 8000 but that's not part of the Haystack core, you would normally install it on top of Haystack and launch it from the command line, so you don't technically need to disable it, just don't run it.

The only place where the rest_api starts automatically is within some Docker containers and I can show you how to customise them if that's the case. Happy to discuss further your deployment use case if you give me more details!

Thanks @masci for the quick response. I am using pip install farm-haystack inside my app's docker container. When I use this, my app (uwsgi) which uses port 8000 stops responding on the port. This happens only when the above is installed. Let me try to debug this further, but in case you know the reason or any pointers on what to check, please let me know. Thanks.
