Quick Glance

  • When specifying page number, error Page does not exist is shown.
  • This happens for any page number, even 1.
  • This does not happen for every document.
  • This does happen for every document with a certain set of properties.
  • Inkscape and GNOME Document Viewer are able to open these documents without any problem.

Document Details

These are the properties of the documents that constantly fail:

Property Value
Producer MiKTeX-dvipdfmx (20240407)
Creator LaTeX with Beamer class
Format PDF-1.5
Number of Pages 45 for example

Due to licensing issues, I am unable to provide you with the documents at this moment.

Due to LaTeX being used with the MiKTeX compiler, I assume the error is still reproducible with arbitrary documents. I have not been able to find an online compiler supporting MiKTeX, unfortunately

Workaround

As already mentioned, Inkscape can handle these documents:

inkscape -n <page> --export-type=svg -o <output-name>.svg <input-name>.pdf

But because Inkscape fails with other documents (not converting background colors or text colors correctly), I will still keep using pdf2svg for the rest of the documents for the time being.
