pkgdown has a problem with downloads

I raised an issue at r-lib/pkgdown#2774, in which I explain the gist, so I won't get into details here. This will not be a CRAN-blocking issue, because I can always put the example code in an if (FALSE) block or similar, if needed.

I give up. I don't see what the problem is. As a stop-gap measure, I put all example code in FALSE conditional blocks. I've seen other problems with roxygen2 and pkgdown lately (although both are updated as of today) so I'm guessing the problem may go away by itself, at some point. I'm closing this now because I no longer consider this to be a "to do" item, but rather a "pain in the asp problem".
