Further clarification is needed on how/what relationship MODS terms should have to CWRC genre ontology terms. Before moving onto adding new terms suggested by REED.

Previous references:

Currently: We have 152 terms with relationships to http://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/ terms, see related SPARQL Query

  • Spreadsheet created of current relationships to MODS terms

    • From a glance, seems like we've mostly been doing owl:sameAs(137) relationships between CWRC genre terms and MODS and skos:related(15) for more specific/broader related terms. (ex. genre:anthology related to Anthology films@en, Anthology television programs@en. --> maybe these could be better as skos:broader/narrower terms)

    • We have 3 genres: Catalogue Form, Journal Form, Series Form with sameAs to http://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026057 (Catalogs@en), unsure if this is intentional or problematic but there may be other cases with duplicate sameAs relationships to MODS terms

Next Steps:

  1. It would be good to review these relationships before proceeding with potentially creating new terms
  2. Review REEDs proposed terms and determine places in hierachy
  3. Add new terms and definitions as needed

Future Task: It might a good use of Hannah's time to review the list of CWRC terms and Mods terms and add in missing relationships?
