clean up NEWS (before cleaving into new website product /beta)

I need to cleave the following into a separate website /beta by the end of the week, per #16:

1. Infographics
2. News
3. Chat
4. Comments

But first, did you still have anything to check in regarding news? You mentioned some issues still. My preference would be for you to check in anything you have in its current state and we chip away at it incrementally, checking in wherever we leave off for the other to figure out. If you think changes might detrimentally affect the website, feel free to create a new branch and we iterate there.

Another prospect is adding a small news_code/README.md describing how to run the scripts, presumably:

• news_rss.R
• news_apis.R

Are you using only the free tier NEWSAPI_KEY that you could share? I can add it as a secret to the Github repo and add a Github Action to run it daily.
