Add administrative areas for Great Britain (GB) #111
Comments
You will want to open a bug report at https://github.com/googlei18n/libaddressinput/issues, our dataset is automatically generated from Google's endpoint. However, do note that according to the Universal Postal Union, administrative areas are not used for postal addresses in the UK: http://www.upu.int/fileadmin/documentsFiles/activities/addressingUnit/gbrEn.pdf |
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Although the administrative area is not "required" for a postal address (this rule was changed in 2010), it is still widley used in the UK. |
@bojanz Could this be worth reconsidering, now that subdivisions aren’t autogenerated from Google? |
Sure! I've been wanting to add an opt-in mechanism for "unused for official addressing but still wanted" administrative areas. Great Britain would be a good use case as it used to be one of the most requested ones, back when we couldn't do anything about it. |
Great news @bojanz! |
Hi @bojanz
Any update on this? |
Currently the format is
"format": "%recipient\n%organization\n%addressLine1\n%addressLine2\n%locality\n%postalCode",
it should be
"format": "%recipient\n%organization\n%addressLine1\n%addressLine2\n%locality\n%administrativeArea\n%postalCode",
