Format only changes the string, not the picker

Thanks for this wonderfull module Chris!

One question, I have formatted the date to en-AU, so when picking a date it formats the value to (07/04/2020) dd/mm/YYYY, which what I wanted. But opening the picker back up, it uses the US format.
