<p style='line-height:1.5'><u>Market/Original incomes</u>
are the sum of income from employment and self-employment plus income from other sources. Other sources include income from investment, property, private
pensions, private transfers, children younger than 16, minus private transfers paid to other assessment units.</p>
<p style='line-height:1.5'><u>Disposable incomes</u> are the sum of market incomes and benefits (incl. pensions) minus taxes and social
insurance contributions. <u>Equivalised disposable income</u> is the total disposable income of the assessment unit divided by the CSO equivalence scale to take
differences in assessment unit composition into account. The <u>CSO equivalence</u> scale attributes a weight of 1 to the head of the unit, a weight of 0.66 to
every person above the age of 13 and a weight of 0.33 to every child aged 0-13.</p>
<p style='line-height:1.5'><u>Decile groups</u> are calculated by ranking tax units/income sharing units/households according to their <u>equivalised</u>
disposable income in the baseline and dividing them into ten similar-sized groups.</p>

<u>The poverty line</u> is defined as 60% of the median equivalised disposable income. <br>
<u>The poverty gap</u> is calculated as the at risk of poverty rate, multiplied by the distance from the poverty line as a proportion of the poverty line. <br>
The median income of people at-risk-of poverty is based on equivalised disposable income.</p>
