So now I've been using cables.gl for a while I've got a huge number of patches in the My Patches view.
There are patchlists but it's awkward to use and doesn't really clean up my main view

Currently

My Patches default is a view of every patch you've ever made (except patches linked as op examples for some reason I think?) .

Proposal

  • I propose default view is you first see patchlists as folders, followed by all patches that are not in a patchlist
  • The patchlists function is already there but needs little UX work , only way I could find to add patches to a patchlist currently is by manually copying pasting ID.
    • Propose add a simple 'add to patchlist' dialog
    • Should be able to summon this dialog from patch settings and directly from the patch summary three dots menu

image

  • In case someone needs the original My Patches functionality: add a new all patches tab that has the function of showing every patch you ever made.
    • This list would ideally include example patches as well

Misc

  • Most of my patch names get cut off. Would love a list/details version of any patchlist view that gives you a vertical list of patches with lots of space for the name field.

thanks for your input, just as a first reaction:

the "plus list" icon next to the heart opens a dialog that lets you add patches to a list.

Ah! I never knew that. Perhaps that icon button could do with a tooltip,
