TouchOSC and cables.gl

I'm asking for support on this issue on the Discord server, but I thought I'd try here too.

I'm trying to get TouchOSC working with cables. I've connected my iPad to my MacBook Pro, and with Hexler's Protokol app, been able to verify my laptop is getting a signal from the iPad across all controls through TouchOSC Bridge. The problem seems to be with WebSockets. I'm using the utility mentioned in the YouTube video (osc2ws) and it shows client connected, and in cables, the WebSocket op is showing it as connected. However it shows "null" as the result, and if I connect an OscNumber op, it also shows a "null" Result Message, and clicking "Learn" doesn't do anything (although Protokol updates with a stream of RECEIVE messages).

I've tried this on Chrome and also Arc (a Chromium browser). Can anyone suggest anything? A resource, some prior experience, etc? Should I be using a different browser? Any help would be most welcome and appreciated!
