I've found the following prompt to be a reliable way to get an attractive portrait of a character:
/imagine #{image}, portrait, dnd #{race}, #{physical features}, painterly, #{atmosphere}, character art, #{color}
Below is a series of basic prompts that do not include physical features
, atmosphere
, or color
keywords. I'll explore those on individual race pages; hopefully the table below will provide a decent starting point to bring your character to life.
/imagine <#{image}>, portrait, dnd #{race}, painterly, character art --seed 1876
I've added the --seed 1876
parameter here to give this resource some consistency in case revisions are necessary and as I continue to learn the details of how MidJourney works. You do not have to add this parameter to your prompt
The table below is a series of prompts using some standard DND race names. The image on the left uses an image prompt (viewable in the URL link), the image on the right does not.
So for example, the prompts I used to generate the Aarakocra images were:
/imagine <https://www.tribality.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/aarakocra.jpg> portrait, dnd Aarakocra, painterly, character art --seed 1876
/imagine portrait, dnd Aarakocra, painterly, character art --seed 1876
