The next release is mainly focussed on fixing regressions from switching to MV3 / non-persistent event pages and finishing issues that didn't make it into 1.16.

Features:

• Feature request: way to limit number of word forms and definitions copied with c+t #1305

Accessibility:

• Improve contrast of default theme #1393

Bug fixes:

• Any regressions from switching to MV3 / non-persistent event pages
  • Clicking browser action icon sometimes takes two attempts #1491
• Laggy lookup on Chrome/Edge for file with a massive <pre> block #1423
• Bug: <span> elements inside a ruby <rt> breaks lookup #1313
• Currency converter is confused by number suffixes (multipliers) #1399
• Handle "top layer" content #1464

Architecture:

• Try switching Firefox, Thunderbird, and Safari to MV3
• Finish converting options page to Preact/Tailwind

I decided to ship 1.17 with only half of the items listed in order to get the fix for #1491 out. I've migrated the remaining issues to #1494 (Version 1.18).
