Hi,

i ran a simple blast to get a test file using blast+ 2.2.28. I can open the sample file. However, when I try to open my test XML file it says "Bad file format, Null" . The file is seemingly an XML file. I created it using the output option -outfmt 5 . Is the XML currently, somehow different ?

Thanks,
R

hi,
it's because I'm using a customized fasta format before blast. You can follow the manual to this software. There's a script to produce this format. Or you can make one by your own script if the original format is not Genbank.

Thanks.

I have a huge blast, repeating it isn't ideal . Is there anyway to edit the Xml to make it viewable ? All I want to do is the gene gain loss.

Thanks
R
