Current approach (for both)

  • use hooks to do a noop and reconnect
    • problem: lots of repetitive noop calls over the connection

atclient (sync client)

  • Instead of hooks to reconnect an atclient
  • A function which checks the connection and reconnects if necessary
    • This way we're more intentional about when to do noops

Monitor client (async client)

  • See if we can optimize our examples / existing usages to only check the connection when we experience a failure
    • Implement a counter to lower frequency of noops
