smaller lab projects to test new technologies and tool chains

Since it is almost impossible to study new technologies without a at least semi-useful project at hand (for me), here I list ideas for smaller, hedged off projects that I can use to test new technologies, particularly those listed in the JS Study.

log viewer

a log viewer kiosk plugin that allows to look at log files, filter them and color them according to severity.

• there is even a ticket: new plugin: log viewer #227. Quite useful for the developer.
• wouldn't be a PWA, so less complexity.
• would need a new API and a new controller in kiosk, but not very complicated ones. That is good, so I can focus on how to wrap a java script app in a kiosk plugin and make some refinements to the current haphazard approach

literature reference component

a nice little project for testing out Lit2 component development could be a component to show references to literature in a certain bibliography style. see this discussion: #1241

Not that small but still vacant and also in need of a web-server based backend:

Raspberry project: dynamic qr code display on the basis of e-ink paper. #37

• as separate from kiosk as it gets
• can even be created as a standalone project first (would need its own server then)
• could even be used to test a node-based server
• some of it must run on linux (Raspberry). But that part is more likely to be C or Python code.
